Reading today like everyone about the miracle of the Hudson river makes me ask, how I could have forgotton to mention airline pilots when comes to wellness in tune preparatory practices.
The very purpose of instrument rating and recurrent simulator training is to prepare for and maintain readiness for situations like that whilst hoping and praying they never occur.
Statistics thankfully show that aviation remains the safest mode of transport.
Every pilot will however admit that it is one thing to fly the simulator and a totally different thing to keep a cool mind in an extreme life threatening situation where the lives of 158 other people depend on your choices and actions.
We can therefore only take our hats off and say chapeau and kudos to captain, Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger III and his five member crew of the US Airways Flight 1549 for keeping their cool in testing circumstances and accomplishing their job with “flying” or should I say in this instance, thankfully with “floating” colors.
